Results get exclusive 888 deal for PCR
Release date: 05/12/2008
Paul Cruikshank Racing (PCR) has entered into an exclusive commercial agreement for full ongoing technical and engineering support from Triple Eight Race Engineering from 2009.
While Triple Eight will supply a number of teams, including Marcus Marshall’s new team, PCR will be the only team besides TeamVodafone to get such an extensive level of support.
These developments mean the #111 Falcon will have the equivalent spec to the TeamVodafone cars, which have two of the top four places in the 2008 V8 Supercar Championship.
And Fabian Coulthard, who has had an exceptional performance in the PCR Glenfords Racing car this year, will start the 2009 Championship Series for PCR in a brand new Triple Eight FG chassis, albeit with different sponsorship.
“We have recently completed some business changes at PCR in which we reviewed the whole operation and developed a solid business plan for the future,” team Principal Paul Cruikshank explained.
“Part of that plan identified the need to address the technical and developmental challenges that the switch to a new FG chassis coupled with E85 fuel presented.
“We had progressed well this year on our own but a more integrated alignment with a ‘big’ team was the best way forward in 2009.”
Triple Eight Race Engineering team Principal, Roland Dane, said PCR – which this year runs the BF Falcon used by TeamVodafone driver Craig Lowndes in 2007 – had proved how a customer car should be run.
“They present their operation professionally, prepare the car well and have a driver who is doing a good job,” Dane said.
“They are clearly the best performing single-car team with some stand-out performances this year.
“It makes sense for both of us to progress together with the FG in 2009, that’s why they are the only team that we will provide this level of support to in 2009.”
Glenfords Tools recently announced its exit from motorsport at the end of 2008 after three years with PCR.
“They have been a great support to PCR and they will be hard to replace in this (tough economic) climate,” Cruikshank said.
“However, I would like to think that based on our performance this year and the plans we have in place for 2009 that we would be seen as an attractive proposition to potential sponsors.
“We have had discussions with some interested parties, but nothing is finalised yet.”
Cruikshank said he was happy with the progress of PCR in 2008, which has so far seen Coulthard get five top 10 results.
“And we have a number of other developments planned for 2009 to continue our evolution as a team and we will provide more detail on these as they are finalised.”

Well done to PCR. It's been good watching the rise of Coulthard and with this deal they should get even better. They could be a suprise force next year
